‘I’m an excellent driver’
Barry Levinson directs this film about self centred Charlie Babbett (Tom Cruise) who finds out that his estranged father died and left a fortune to a long lost brother he never knew he had. He and girlfriend Susannah (Valeria Golino) go to Walbrook Institute and discover Raymond (Dustin Hoffman), an autistic residing there who is his brother. Charlie kidnaps Raymond and they embark on a long road trip which will lead them to understand each other.
Overall, a sweet film with amazing performances from Cruise and Hoffman. The ending especially tugged at my heart strings and nearly brought me to tears. Tom Cruise, to me in this film reminds me of a Ken doll which is rather amusing.
An overall stunning masterpiece with an interesting soundtrack by Hans Zimmer, who composed music for the Lion King and Gladiator.
